Police on Monday afternoon cited a 17-year-old New Canaan boy for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana after finding a joint in his car that had been hidden in a hollowed-out yellow highlighter tube.

After stopping the teen along South Avenue near Church Street at about 3:22 p.m. on Oct. 13 because his car had a defective brake light, a police officer noticed the motorist appeared nervous, according to a police report.

The officer asked the teen whether he had any pot in the car and got a response that yes, there was a small amount in the glove box, the report said.

The teen additionally was ticketed and warned for having a passenger in the car and the defective brake light, the report said.

His case was referred to the Juvenile Matters Division of state Superior Court in Stamford where he’s scheduled to appear Oct. 21.

  1. Not only is the teen a lawbreaker but clearly he was not paying attention during Civics class when his teacher went over The Bill of Rights with special emphasis on the 4th Amendment. Our rights are fleeting but still worth understanding and fighting for.
