[Bill Flynn is executive director of the New Canaan Nature Center.]
On December 12th, we lost Linda Andros, a cherished member of our community. As president of the board of the New Canaan Nature Center, Linda brought boundless energy, vision, and unwavering dedication to our mission of fostering a love for nature and environmental stewardship. Her leadership helped guide the center through years of growth and success, leaving a lasting legacy that will inspire generations to come.
Beyond her instrumental work with the Nature Center, Linda was deeply committed to the well-being of the people of New Canaan and beyond. She served with distinction on the New Canaan Conservation Commission, where her passion for preserving our town’s natural beauty was evident in every initiative she championed.
Her impact extended far beyond environmental advocacy. Linda was a devoted member of St. Mark’s Church, where she served as Chair of the Outreach Committee, a member of the Vestry, and a driving force behind the creation of the Laundry Love program, which provided much-needed support to those in need. Her compassion, creativity, and steadfast faith were central to everything she undertook.
Linda’s life was a testament to the power of service, and her influence can be felt in the countless lives she touched. She approached every role she held with grace, humility, and an unshakable belief in the importance of community.
On behalf of the New Canaan Nature Center and all who had the privilege of knowing her, we extend our deepest condolences to Linda’s family and loved ones. While her passing leaves an unfillable void, her spirit will continue to inspire us in our work and our lives.
I have lived and worked at the New Canaan Nature Center for the past 15 years. My wife and I are extremely grateful to be raising our son, Henry, in such an incredible community. Linda Andros was a shining example of what makes this town so special, and that’s the people who live here. She exemplified what it means to be a true steward of the earth and a champion for her community. Her memory will forever live on in the trails she walked, the programs she nurtured, and the hearts she touched.
Thank you, Linda, for your incredible spirit. Thank you for being a mentor and a friend. You will be missed.
Her service is at 11:00 am Friday, January 18th, at St. Marks Church. A reception will follow in Morrill Hall.
May you rest in peace.
