This week on 0684-Radi0, our free podcast (subscribe here in the iTunes Store), we talk to Natalie Morath, the Lead Archivist & Curator at GM Design Archive & Special Collections, about a new exhibition at the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society that she curated. “Eero Saarinen—An American Versailles” opens Friday in the Susan Schmeichel Gallery at NCM&HS and runs through Dec. 31. The exhibition features photographs, furniture, objects, sculpture and video from the Design Center at General Motors in Detroit, a sprawling campus that Saarinen designed.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this exhibit. Having been at the GM Design Studio multiple times, it will be great to see more of the history and absorb the sheer scale of the place. It will also be fascinating to see how the modern architecture ties into many of the homes built here in New Canaan around that same time.
