Police on Friday night arrested a 65-year-old man who is accused of threatening people during a popular, annual run in New Canaan that serves as a fundraiser for autism advocacy.

At about 6:57 p.m., officers responded to the area of East Avenue and Main Street on a report of an irate man screaming at people, according to a police report.

The All Out For Autism road race had been underway for about 30 minutes on Main Street, the report said.

Police investigated the reported disturbance, found the Norwalk man on Forest Street and charged him with second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

He was released on $1,000 bond and scheduled to appear Sept. 6 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
