Police on Monday night cited an 18-year-old New Canaan man for minor drug offenses after a single-car accident on Weed Street.
At about 9:27 p.m., officers were dispatched near the intersection of Knapp Lane on a report of a crash, according to a police report.
There, a motorist appeared to have collided with a utility pole, according to area residents.
Police during an interview with the driver, a Kimberly Place resident, smelled the odor of marijuana, the report said.
Following an investigation, they cited him for possession of less than .5 ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both infraction-level offenses.
It isn’t clear what prompted the paraphernalia citation.
Police early Tuesday closed Weed Street in that area for short period of time while utility workers repaired damaged power lines.
