Police: DUI Charge for 20-Year-Old Man

New Canaan Police after midnight Friday arrested a 20-year-old Maryland man and charged him with driving under the influence. 

At about 11:54 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the area of South Avenue and Farm Road on a report of a driver who appeared intoxicated, police said.

The officers had a description of the vehicle, according to a police report. They found it in the Bank of America parking lot off of Cherry Street between South Avenue and Park Street, the report said.

On speaking with the driver, of Lutherville-Timoniom, Md., police noticed signs of impairment, it said.

The man was taken into custody and at 12:20 a.m. on Nov. 26 was brought up on the misdemeanor charge. At police headquarters, he refused to provide a sample to help establish his blood-alcohol level, the report said.

The man was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Dec. 17 in state Superior Court.
