Police said Tuesday that an individual died following a gunshot wound on North Wilton Road.
At about 1:30 p.m., the department received a call that an individual armed with a handgun was on the property of a private residence at 721 North Wilton Road, according to a press release issued by Police Chief Leon Krolikowski.
“After arriving on the scene, responding officers located an individual that was the victim of a gunshot wound,” he said. “The victim was treated at the scene but did not survive.”
It isn’t clear whether the victim was male or female or whether the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. The investigation is ongoing, the chief said. It’s also unclear exactly where the deceased was found when first responders arrived on the scene.
Asked whether police think there is a gunman at large, Krolikowski said there is no threat to the public.
Tax records show that 721 North Wilton Road is a 7.76-acre property that includes a 2006-built, 19,000-square-foot home. Police had cordoned off the next-door property on Tuesday afternoon, at number 647 North Wilton Road. Both properties are owned by the same individual, according to tax records.
