Police are investigating a pair of residential burglaries that appear to have occurred in broad daylight in eastern New Canaan.
At about 2:18 p.m. on Oct. 8, a Thursday, a Carter Street resident told police that a door at a garage window was found broken and a door from the garage into her home had been kicked open, according to a police report.
Inside, $5,000 in cash had gone missing from a locked box and jewelry also was taken, the report said.
The resident told police that she had left her house at 9 a.m. that morning and returned home at 2:15 p.m. The home had been locked though its alarm system was not set, police said.
Not long after, at about 3:02 p.m., the owners of a Beech Road home told police that a rear patio door had been forced open and that a Canon camera worth $500 and pair of binoculars worth $95 had been stolen.
It isn’t clear whether the home had an alarm system, police said.
