We are saddened to announce that Sally Anne Brown, 83, of Norwalk, CT, died peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026 with her loving family by her side.

Sally Anne Brown
Sally Anne lived a full and vibrant life. She was born to the late Albert and Catherine Burgeson on April 7, 1943 in New York City. She spent most of her childhood in the Bronx, NY.
Sally Anne graduated from Evander Childs High School and Hunter College. She earned her master’s and 6th year degrees later in life, and she taught high school math in Stamford, CT for many years. She also lived in Bedford, NY, Pound Ridge, NY, and New Canaan, CT.
Sally loved to cook and her Swedish meatballs couldn’t be duplicated. She traveled to places including Colorado, Canada, Florida, and Europe and when traveling she had a ball going on spontaneous adventures. Sally loved to garden and she’d spend hours outside making her surroundings more beautiful. She loved playing bridge with her groups and she’d often substitute if she was needed. Sally loved the churches that she had belonged to, and she was active with the bell choir, bible study, and helping in any way that she could. She was also an active participant with the PEO group which supports young women who plan to go to college.
Above all, Sally Anne loved the people in her life. She was always thrilled to hear from and spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. When they were little, she loved to play games, read to them, and teach them. When they were older, she was the type of grandmother who took them zip lining, bowling, and out for ice cream. She always loved to hear what they had to say. Sally Anne was great at keeping in touch with those she loved.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Sally Anne leaves behind her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, George Brown of Norwalk, daughter, Caren Brown of Wilton, son, Ken Brown of Darien, grandchildren Ryan Higgins, Quinn Higgins, Tim Higgins, Clare Brown, and Spencer Brown, her siblings Bruce Burgeson, Patrice LaSusa, Alan Burgeson, and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Charly Brown, who stayed by her side until the end.
A celebration of life will be held at the United Church of Rowayton on May 30, 2026 at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PEO, chapter F-AC.
Sally Anne’s family would like to thank RVNA Hospice for their loving care, and also all of her family and friends who comforted her with notes, flowers, prayers, and well wishes.
My deepest condolences to the Brown Family and Sally’s brothers Bruce and Allen, and her beloved sister Patrice. What a full and beautiful life.
