Saverio (Sam) Laria, 69, of New Canaan Ct, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 9, 2026. He was born on February 19, 1957, in Dasá, Calabria, Italy. He was the son of the late Francesco and Marianna (Fratea) Laria.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Sara (DeCotiis) Laria and his two beloved sons Louie Laria and Daniel Laria. He is survived by his sisters Gina Sette, Aurora Romano, Evalina Condino, Ines Corrado, Angela Laria and Carla Buongermino and a brother, Nicola Laria, they all reside in Italy. He also left behind two sister-in-laws Carmella Gentile of New Canaan, Ct and Louisa Labrie of Norwalk, Ct and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Giuseppe Laria, and his mother-in-law Francesca DeCotiis.
Saverio was a strong loving man, a beloved husband and father who devoted his life to his family. Together with his son Louie, he built and operated his own business, Laria Landscaping. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the Minturnese Italian Social Club to play Bocce, have expresso and spend time with his friends. His love and spirit will live forever in our heart, and he will be deeply missed.
Family and friends will be received at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, Ct, on Friday July 17, 2026, from 5-8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 18, 2026, at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius Church, 21 Cherry Street, New Canaan, Ct.
Interment will follow the mass at Lakeview Cemetery, 352 Main Street, New Cannan, Ct.
