Police on Aug. 26 arrested a 34-year-old Heritage Hill Road man by warrant and charged him with second-degree strangulation.

At about 6:40 p.m. on Aug. 26 (a Monday), officers took the man into custody following an investigation where the victim had reported a domestic incident to police.

In addition to the felony strangulation charge, police charged the man with disorderly conduct.

Under state law, a person is guilty of second-degree strangulation if he or she “restrains another person by the neck or throat or obstructs such other person’s nose or mouth with the intent to impede the ability of such other person to breathe or restrict blood circulation of such other person.”

He was held on $75,000 and scheduled to appear the next day in state Superior Court.

According to Connecticut Judicial Branch records, the man is being represented by attorney Peter J. Somma Jr. of Stamford. He has been released on bond and is scheduled for arraignment Oct. 15.
