Hersam Acorn Sells Commercial Building on Vitti Street for $1,150,000

A 1970-built commercial building on Vitti Street has sold for $1,150,000, according to a property transfer recorded Wednesday in the Town Clerk’s office. Hersam Acorn Realty LLC sold the single-story, 6,000-square-foot structure to 587 CT AVE LLC, a company whose managing principal is Jason Milligan of New Canaan, according to Connecticut Secretary of the State records. Asked about the future of 42 Vitti St., Milligan said the plan is to keep its current tenants in place while its new owners explore options for future. A physical therapy provider and newspaper currently occupy the concrete-on-slab building. Located in the Business B zone, the lot totals .35 acres, tax records show.

Here’s a short list of sweeping economic crises that have affected, directly or indirectly, every U.S. business since 1982: Black Monday, savings and loan crisis, subprime mortgage crisis and Great Recession. Locally, success in business involves nimbleness and acumen, and far more than that—interpersonal skills, involvement, diligence and imagination. Recently, the head of an organization that’s central for many local businesses, the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, came by chance across a list of 28 current members that also were members back in 1982. “They’ve supported the chamber, supported the town and been here for a long, long time,” Executive Director Tucker Murphy said. “We want to congratulate them on that.”
