Drunk-Driving Charge for Woman, 52

Police on July 30 arrested a 52-year-old Norwalk woman and charged her with driving under the influence. At about 11:13 p.m. that night (a Tuesday), officers responded to the area of Smith Ridge Road near the Field Club on a report of an erratic vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road, police said. There, officers located the car and stopped it, according to a police report. They smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath and conducted field sobriety tests, the report said. Criminal Trespass Charge for Norwalk Man, 34

Police this month arrested a 34-year-old Norwalk man by warrant and charged him with first-degree criminal trespass.

At about 7:38 p.m. on Aug. 2, officers arrested him at his home, using a warrant that stemmed from an investigation launched following information reported to police by the victim in July, officials said. It isn’t clear what the man did to earn the misdemeanor charge. The warrant application wasn’t immediately available. Under state law, a person is guilty of first-degree criminal trespass if he or she “enters or remains in a building or any other premises after an order to leave” while knowing they’re “not licensed or privileged to do so,” among other reasons.

DUI Charge for Woman, 35, After Car Crash

Police last month arrested a 35-year-old Stamford woman by warrant in connection with a car crash on Route 123 in June. Police responded at 8:29 p.m. on June 6 (a Thursday) to the area of Smith Ridge and Michigan Roads, where they found a Kia Optima overturned on its passenger side, laying on a guard rail, officials said. The driver—breathing but unconscious—was found on the passenger side of the vehicle with her body at an angle, with officers assisting her, according to an arrest warrant application signed July 8 by a state Superior Court judge. The airbags had deployed, and the woman wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, so she was placed on a longboard with a neck collar for support, according to the police affidavit, obtained by NewCanaanite.com.

When she started to wake up, the woman “became aggressive and kept insisting she was okay and to let her go,” the application said. Authorities could smell alcohol on the woman’s breath.

Arrest Warrant: New Canaan Man, 45, Pointed Gun at Woman

Police last week arrested a 45-year-old New Canaan man by warrant after receiving multiple reports of violent abuse, court records show. The victim told authorities that he pointed a gun at her while she was at the man’s Parade Hill Road home last October following an event in New York City, according to an arrest warrant application filed by New Canaan Police and signed July 22 by a state Superior Court judge. While being chauffeured home that night, the pair—a couple for about two years—had an argument about the man’s ex-girlfriend, the application said. As it unfolded, he “swung his phone and hit Victim in her face” and then “wrapped his arm around her neck in order to restrain her,” she told authorities in an interview last month, according to the warrant application, obtained by NewCanaanite.com. At about 3 a.m. the following morning, “Victim was attempting to remove her luggage from [the man’s] residence when he pointed a gun at her,” the police affidavit said.
