Prominent Elm Street Commercial Building Is Sold

The commercial space at 124 Elm St.—for years and until recently the home of Pennyweights, which moved a few doors down—sold this month for $1,616,000. According to town tax records, the property on Aug. 9 transferred between the limited liability companies 124 Elm LLC and Tres Amigos 124 Elm St LLC. The new ownership company’s principal is Elizabeth Elliott, according to records on file with the Connecticut Secretary of the State. Elliott, owner of women’s clothing shop More ‘N’ More next door and Shoes ‘N’ More across the street, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Street Style: ‘Be Yourself, Dress How You Like’

For this installment of “Street Style,” we caught up with New Canaan’s Lauren Palladino, who owns The Candy Scoop (down the side alley at the top of Elm Street, right next to New Canaan Music) with her sister, Megan. As always, many thanks to our Street Style subject for participating in this feature. Here’s our chat:

New Canaanite: How would you describe your personal style? Lauren: Definitely comfortable, classic, neutral tones. But I like color as well, especially as spring is approaching.
