Virginia Toms, 88 of Wilton, beloved wife of the late Clarence (Bud) Mansfield Toms, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2023 with her loving family by her side. Her spirit is reunited with her husband, late parents Fred and Dorothy (Manuel) Spadaccini, and son Paul Toms.

Virginia was born on October 28, 1934, in Norwalk, Connecticut and grew up in New Canaan with a brief stay in California during WW II. She married Bud, her one and only love at the age of 16 to whom she remained a devoted wife for more than 50 years until his passing. She was a loving mother and grandmother while working at the family businesses, HOWARD B TOMS TREE SURGERY, and TOMS Home and Garden Center of New Canaan and Vista, NY. In the ‘90s, she made a career shift into banking and eventually retired from Wells Fargo.

Virginia was passionate about volunteering and donated time to raise funds for St. Jude’s and Lifetime Learners. She loved sightseeing and took many road trips across the country. In more recent year’s she embraced her creative side and took up painting among other crafts which she had previously enjoyed but hadn’t been as active in due to life’s other demands. Above all, she loved her family and surrounded herself with remembrances of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Virginia is survived by her brothers Fred (Barbara) Spadaccini and Anthony (Ginny) Spadaccini; her son Howard B. Toms III (Tracy); Paul’s loving wife, Theresa;

her grandchildren Jennifer (Jud), Brian, Stephen, Joshua (Monica), and Holly (Michael); and her great grandchildren Amelia, Cole, Madison, Mason, and Claire.

A memorial service for Virginia will be held on September 3, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Hoyt Funeral Home 199 Main Street, New Canaan, CT 06840. Interment will be private.
