Police early Friday arrested a 26-year-old Newark, N.J. woman by warrant and charged her with interfering with an officer.

On a Saturday night about one year ago—8:16 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2021—officers were dispatched to a New Canaan home regarding a stolen 2020 McLaren GT sports car, according to a police report. It had been stolen from a garage at the home, the report said.

Through an investigation, police identified a suspect vehicle used in the theft of the McLaren, and connected that vehicle to the New Jersey woman, the report said.

During a subsequent interview with police, the woman provided misleading information to detectives, it said.

Police secured a warrant for her arrest on the misdemeanor charge and she turned herself in at about 6 a.m. on Sept. 9. She was processed same-day at state Superior Court in Stamford.

“It should be noted that an arrest warrant has also been secured for the suspect responsible for the theft of the McLaren,” police said. “When that individual is in custody additional information will be released.”
