Police on Thursday arrested a 27-year-old Los Angeles woman by warrant and charged her with felony identity theft, nearly one year after she used credit cards stolen in New Canaan to buy more than $10,000 in goods.

On Nov. 14, 2019, officers received a complaint about credit cards stolen from a car parked at the New Canaan Mounted Troop on Carter Street, according to a police report.

A short time after the theft, the cards were used at the SoNo Collection mall in Norwalk, the report said.

Surveillance video showed a woman later identified as the Lawndale, Calif. resident making more than $11,400 in purchases using the cards, it said.

Police took the woman into custody Nov. 12 from the Massachusetts Corrections Department. It wasn’t immediately clear why they were holding her.

She was charged with first-degree identity theft as well as second-degree larceny.

Police held the woman on $100,000 bond and scheduled her to appear Nov. 13 in state Superior Court.
