Woman, 70, Charged with DUI

Police at 11:45 a.m. on July 27 (a Thursday) arrested a 70-year-old South Salem, N.Y. woman and charged her with driving under the influence.

At about 11:36 a.m. that day, officers were dispatched to the area of Smith Ridge Road on a report of a vehicle swerving into the oncoming traffic lane, officials said.

Responding officers located the vehicle downtown, at Main Street and East Avenue, according to a police report.

There, they conducted a stop and officers found signs of impairment, the report said.

After conducting standard field sobriety tests, police arrested the woman on the misdemeanor charge, it said.

She provided two urine samples to police at headquarters though it wasn’t immediately clear what her blood-alcohol level was based on testing.
She was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 10 in state Superior Court.
