Police say they’re boosting patrols in town parks after a man approached a female jogger at Waveny on Tuesday evening, tapped the woman on the shoulder and made “inappropriate remarks” that alarmed her.

The incident occurred at about 5:40 p.m. on Oct. 31, according to a press bulletin issued by New Canaan Police Department Chief Leon Krolikowski.

The man is described as white, about five-foot-eight, with short blonde hair and black-framed glasses, the chief said.

He had been wearing a blue hoodie with an Under Armour logo on the chest, shorts and sneakers, Krolikowski said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to phone police at 203-594-3500.

“Joggers are encouraged to run in pairs and in well-traveled areas,” Krolikowski said in the release. “Officers will increase patrols in Waveny Park and in other town parks. All suspicious persons should be immediately reported to our department via 9-1-1.”
