15 Counts of Third-Degree ID Theft for Florida Man

Police last week arrested a 22-year-old Saint Cloud, Fla. man by warrant in connection with an identity theft complaint received earlier this year.

On Jan. 29, officers took a complaint regarding use of the victim’s personal information to open up credit cards and cellphone accounts, according to a police report.

The info also was used to accrue charges and obtain phones, the report said.

Through an investigation, police identified the person responsible, and obtained a warrant for 15 counts of third-degree identity theft as well as interfering, false statement to procure issuance or loading of payment card, illegal use of payment card and receipt of money, goods or services obtained by illegal use of credit card. 

The man turned himself in at 4:48 a.m. on Aug. 12.

He appeared the same day and pleaded not guilty to all charges, according to Connecticut Judicial Branch Records. He is represented by Stamford criminal defense attorney Mark Sherman, the records show. The man was released on $35,000 bond and is scheduled to appear again Oct. 27, the records show.
