Brown Harris Stevens, sponsor of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce Gingerbread House Tour, has donated 150 Gingerbread House Kits which families can sign up to build and have displayed around town. Sign-up opens up at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18 at the Chamber website . The kits are claimed very quickly—20 minutes or less—families should only sign up if the children building the kits are under 12. Finished creations should be dropped off to the assigned store/location between Dec. 1 and 4. “Thanks again to the sponsor Brown Harris Stevens and to Walter Stewart’s Market for sourcing the kits and delivering them to us at cost,” Chamber Executive Director Laura Budd said in a press bulletin.

VFW Post 653 is seeking help laying wreaths and planting flags beside the gravestones of veterans interred in New Canaan. Connecticut State Police said in a press release that a 16-year-old New Haven woman was transported to Norwalk Hospital, later Yale New Haven Hospital, with life-threatening injuries after she was ejected from the back of an unregistered motorcycle while taking the South Avenue exit from the Merritt Parkway. The operator of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old New Haven man, was not hurt. The road was closed for 3.5 hours after the crash.

The annual New Canaan Ornaments will be for sale at the Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. They cost $25 apiece. West and South School were made this year along with the Grupes home for the New Canaan Land Trust, the Bach Special Collections Museum, and ‘New Canaan Moms‘. East School was featured last year, but they can be special ordered. Funds raised go to the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society.
