Dear Editor,
As 2025 closes, our hearts are full of gratitude for our community that has embraced Inclusive Together‘s mission with such warmth. When we set out to create meaningful opportunities for individuals with invisible disabilities and their families, we hoped New Canaan would welcome this work. You have exceeded every expectation.
This fall’s Scarecrow Festival was pure joy—53 scarecrows brought our town to life, thanks to the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Building & Home Supply, and Elm Restaurant. Seeing businesses, nonprofits, and families come together in creativity reminded us why this work matters. Congratulations to all our winners—everyone who participated made our community shine.
Sweet P Bakery has become such an important partner in our Halloween awareness campaign and adaptive baking classes, proving that creating employment for adults with disabilities isn’t just possible—it’s powerful. When we hosted Bake & Belong at the New Canaan Library in November and our Back to School Together Fair in September with over 30 community partners, we watched families find resources, make connections, and feel seen. That’s what keeps us going.
Here’s what troubles us: Fairfield County is Connecticut’s wealthiest region, yet we provide the least adaptive and inclusive programming in our state. Our families deserve better. This isn’t about charity—it’s about understanding that invisible disabilities are real, our neighbors need support, and meaningful change starts with opening our hearts.
As we begin our third year, we’re dreaming bigger. Thanks to New Canaan Community Foundation and Newcomers Club grants, we’re building online resources and professional training. We’re partnering with KultureCity to bring a Sensory Activation Vehicle to community events—imagine staying at a town fair or festival instead of having to leave when overwhelmed.
Thank you for believing in this vision. Thank you for standing with us.
Sincerely,
Lauren Tarzia
