Police on July 31 arrested an 18-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with evading responsibility following a car crash.
At about 9:32 p.m. on July 30 (a Thursday), officers responded to the intersection of South Avenue and Bank Street on a report of a two-car crash where one vehicle left the scene, police said.
Through an investigation, authorities learned that one car had stopped for a light while a second vehicle rear-ended it, causing damage and then making a U-turn and driving off, according to a police report.
Police identified the evading vehicle through an investigation and charged the teen with the misdemeanor offense. He also was cited for following too closely.
The teen was released after promising to appear Aug. 11 in state Superior Court.
