Following up on work that started in early June, the First District Water Company of Norwalk will install a new water main on Mill Road from Silvermine Road to the town border next week, public works officials said.
Work will begin Monday, July 6 and should wrap up within three weeks, according to Tiger Mann, assistant director of the New Canaan Department of Public Works.
According to Westport-based A.J. Penna & Son Excavating Contractors, which will carry out the work, the same motor vehicle re-routing plan will be put in place as earlier in June (see PDF below).
According to Penna’s detour route, traffic heading north on Silvermine trying to access Mill will be routed to Route 106/Old Wilton Road-Old Kings Highway-Forge Road.
Traffic heading south on Silvermine Road will continue south to Silvermine Avenue-River Road-Mill Road. And traffic heading west on Borglum Road will detour north on Mill Road to River Road to Silvermine Avenue to Silvermine Road.

So I won’t be able to drive to my home (on the affected area of Mill Rd) for three weeks?
My understanding, Martin, is that you’ll be able to get home. Last time, alternating single lane traffic was allowed. The thru-traffic will be rerouted as per the detour.
Sounds good. Works for me.
Thanks!
