The Police Commission on Wednesday night honored Lt. Jim George, who retired from the New Canaan Police Department after 54 years on the force. “He honorably served our department and town from October 30, 1967 to January 2, 2022,” Police Chief Leon Krolikowski said. “We will all miss him and wish him well in his well-deserved retirement.”

Nonprofit organization STAR, Inc., Lighting the Way on Jan. 13 held an educational webinar after receiving a $15,000 grant from The Arc-US and AmeriCorps to create a program to address local food insecurity and hunger that included Open Doors Shelter and Person-to-Person. “The Martin Luther King Day Service 2022 project addresses food insecurity in our community and, in the months ahead, volunteers will work alongside STAR clients to prepare, deliver and serve hot meals to Open Door and collect non-perishable food items to be delivered to Person-to-Person,” STAR said in a press release.
