Anthony Jordhamo, 86, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. He was born in Bridgeport to the late Constantine and Margarita (Polena) Jordhamo.
As a history teacher, Mr. Jordhamo walked the hallways of New Canaan High School with a fiery wit for nearly 30 years; educating, molding, and entertaining three generations of students. He also was a stalwart negotiator for the teacher’s union and was an energetic activist for the National Education Association.
He was a ruthless card player, a smooth practitioner of the one-liner, and was known for his cutting-edge sartorial choices: the man could wear clogs like no one else, before or since.
Anthony is survived by his loving children, Emily Jordhamo of Stamford, and Jason Jordhamo of New York City. He will also be greatly missed by his three grandchildren, two surviving siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and several croupiers at the Mohegan Sun.
There will be a memorial service for Anthony on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Shaughnessey Banks Funeral Home, 50 Reef Rd. in Fairfield. Family and friends will share memories around 11:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, the family suggests finding a public school project to support on DonorsChoose.org.
