Police on Sunday evening arrested a 45-year-old New York City man by warrant following a domestic incident in town.

At about 3 p.m. on Dec. 20, officers were dispatched to the Emergency Room at Norwalk Hospital to take a complaint regarding an incident that had occurred earlier that day at Canaan Close, according to a police report.

Following an investigation, police obtained a warrant for the Beekman Street man on charges of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

It isn’t clear what caused the argument, whether the arrested man is related to the victim or what was the extent of the victim’s injuries. Police withheld details, saying it was a domestic incident.

A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon.”

The man turned himself in to police on Sunday. He was released on $5,000 bond and scheduled to appear Monday in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
