Police last week arrested a 41-year-old Crystal Street man and charged him with third-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.

At about 4:41 p.m. on Dec. 17, officers were dispatched to a Crystal Street home regarding a dispute between the man and the victim, according to a police report.

Following an investigation, police took the man to headquarters to process him on the misdemeanor charges.

It’s unclear what the dispute was about, whether the arrested man is related to the victim or what were the extent of injuries. Police declined to provide details, calling it a domestic matter.

A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon.”

Police released the man on $25,000 bond and scheduled him to appear Dec. 19 in state Superior Court.
