Selectmen Approve $21K To Photograph Saxe Construction

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. In the case of construction photography, it can deliver an indisputable audit trail and extreme peace of mind for construction managers. The Board of Selectmen on Tuesday approved a request from the Saxe Building Committee for $21,640 to use the construction photography services of Multivista of Connecticut in order to document the Saxe Middle School project. Penny Rashin, chairman of the Saxe Building Committee, said the firm’s construction photography would be used for the construction of the school’s new addition, not the renovation of the existing building. As Rashin explained, Multivista takes photographs of the construction process at key junctures so as to capture whether the work is being done correctly and up to code.

Entangled Great Blue Heron Practically Asks For Assistance

It was a most unusual rescue. Analia Cassina’s son left his fishing poles by the edge of the water at the pond behind their property on Lakewood Drive last Tuesday afternoon… but when he returned a few hours later, the poles were gone. He looked around for a while and eventually noticed that there, in the center of the pond, standing on a floating fountain (the type used to aerate water bodies) was a large great blue heron, helplessly tangled in the line of one of his poles. Apparently the bird had somehow “flown through” the poles, probably while it was near shore, and become tangled in the lines. With one pole still “attached” and the line wrapped around its legs and wings (the pole was in the water, sticking up out of the muck, right next to the bird), the poor bird was unable to go anywhere – at least, not without a major struggle.

Historic Home On Main Street Still Stuck In Foreclosure Proceedings?

The vacant, deteriorating, Greek Revival-style home at 4 Main St. may stay vacant and deteriorating for a while longer, as an apparent procedural error in state court has resulted in a delay in foreclosure proceedings. The case is headed to state appellate court, a July 22 court filing obtained by NewCanaanite shows. Last year, Frank Lieto, an attorney with Goldman Gruder and Woods, who is representing the homeowner, Dr. James Talbot, successfully argued in superior court that because a declaration of default had been entered by the court clerk two days prematurely – prior to the end of the mediation period – that the court’s subsequent actions to proceed with strict foreclosure were invalid and thus should be vacated. Lieto is requesting that arguments in the foreclosure proceedings be re-heard.
