Registration is open for a free New Canaan Police Department program at New Canaan Library that’s coming next week. “Fraud and Crime Prevention” will be held 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Here’s part of the program description: “Protect yourself from scammers, information theft, and property crimes at home, online, and when you’re out and about.” It will feature NCPD Officer Roy Adams, Officer Kelly Coughlin and Deputy Chief Andrew Walsh.

Mark Yurkiw, a Westport-based artist, spoke two weeks ago at the New Canaan Rotary Club meeting about his humanitarian efforts in delivering lifesaving medical and crucial supplies to Ukraine since Russia invaded the nation on Feb. 24, 2022. “He shared his experience traveling through the country with a presentation showing him meeting with soldiers and people doing all they can to help each other amidst the daily stress and dangers they face,” the Rotary Club said. “Mark’s work is sponsored by Ridgefield Responds, a humanitarian non-for-profit organization.”
