Betty (Paglialunga), Geriak, 60, formerly of New Canaan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Betty was born on September 24, 1960 in Norwalk, CT to the late Louis and Anna Paglialunga.
Betty grew up in New Canaan, the youngest of eight children. She attended New Canaan Schools and danced for Walter Schalk. When Betty was a sophomore in high school she moved to Norwalk and lived with Chi Chi and Danny Futi. She thought of them as second parents.
Betty graduated from Norwalk High School in 1978 and began her long career of waitressing at many local diners and restaurants. She also worked for a time at US Tobacco, Rings End in Darien as well as obtaining her Real Estate License.
Betty worked in the food service industry most of her life where she was able to form many lifelong relationships with coworkers and customers. Betty moved away from CT many years ago and lived in PA and finally settled down in FL. It was there that she was diagnosed with lung cancer in April of 2018. Betty immediately started her courageous battle. Upon returning to CT in September of 2019, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and reuniting with friends and family.
Betty is survived by her son Robert and his wife Michelle, of Norwalk, four brothers Peter Paglialunga , Dennis Paglialunga, Robert Paglialunga, Lenny Paglialunga. Three sisters Ginny Paglialunga, Louann Cogswell, Audrey Paglialunga and two grandchildren Cameron and Jackson Geriak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 1:00pm at St Aloysius Parish, 21 Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT. Family will receive friends one hour before hand in the main entrance of the church. Interment is private.
