Joan Rouleau, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at the age of 99 in Princeton, New Jersey. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she lived a full and vibrant life, marked by intellectual curiosity, boundless creativity, and deep devotion to her family and friends. 

Joan grew up in Scituate, MA and was a graduate of Smith College, where she earned an undergraduate degree in history. She went on to earn a master’s degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. Throughout her life, she maintained an unwavering commitment to education and the arts, nurturing both her own intellectual pursuits and the minds of those around her. Joan was a lover of music and the arts, and enjoyed summer travels to Tanglewood, Caramoor, and Nantucket. 

Joan worked for many non-profits throughout her life.

Giulietta Palladino, 88

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025 Giulietta Palladino, age 88, a New Canaan resident for over 70 years, was called to heaven, with her loving and adoring family at her side. Born in Panni, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Bianco. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Domenico. She is survived by her three children, Maria Arduini and her husband Sebastian of New Canaan, Linda Baker and her husband Ken of Milford, Ralph Palladino and his wife Toni of New Canaan

She is survived by her brother, Michael Bianco. She is also survived by ten loving grandchildren, Michael, Christina, Lauren, Ashley, Elisabeth, Julia, Megan, Dominick B., Domenic P. and Nicole.

Virginia Kip Farrell, 93

Virginia Kip Farrell passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 28, 1932, Kip spent most of her younger years growing up in Darien, Connecticut, where she enjoyed an active, sports-filled youth. Her mother, a trained classical pianist, had studied under the famed Nadia Boulanger in Paris, and her father was a banker.  She attended New Canaan Country School, and graduated from Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Kip met William Kegg, Jr., a New Canaan boy attending Harvard in 1950 and they were married in 1952. Upon Bill’s graduation from Harvard, he took an exciting position in Paris as a film director, and the new couple started their lives together there.

Halvor Christian Kielland, 78

Halvor Christian Heyerdahl Kielland, 78, passed away Thursday March 6, 2025, with his loving family at his bedside. He had been battling MDS for ten years and recovering from a bone marrow transplant in October 2024. His kind and stoic nature always shone through. Born June 12, 1946, to Aggie Margaretha Heyerdahl and Knut Kielland in Oslo, Norway.  Halvor adored his two sisters, Aggie Kielland Blom (Fredrik) and Brit Knutsdatter Kielland, who died tragically in 1954. Growing up surrounded by family instilled a deep sense of belonging and a love for his family’s Norwegian heritage.

Passed away peacefully after a long illness on the morning of April 28, 2025. Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Mark was the beloved son of Dr. Richard Bennett Brown and Mary McLeman Brown. A devoted husband, father, brother, and friend, Mark brought warmth, humor, and kindness into the lives of all who knew him. Mark was an extraordinary father who poured unconditional love into his children each and every day. To him, family was everything—he often said that his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his wife and children.
