We have known Mike Rodgers in many contexts in our eleven years in New Canaan.  He has been our good neighbor, a fellow school parent – from East School through NCHS, a community volunteer and a deacon at the Congregational Church. Across all of these roles and in all our interactions, Mike has demonstrated a commitment to the community and a willingness to work to help others.  We heartily endorse Mike for Town Council. If elected, we know he will speak candidly and work diligently for our town.

Dear Editor,

On Sunday I had the privilege of joining the cast and director of The Effect for an engaging post-performance conversation following The Town Players of New Canaan’s production at the Powerhouse Theater in Waveny Park. Lucy Prebble’s play is a powerful exploration of love, science and mental health.  The cast delivered a thought-provoking performance which sparked an engaging dialogue about the importance of ethical guidelines in clinical trials, the scope of the placebo effect plus the development and use of pharmaceuticals to support mental health care treatment today. Thank you to Town Players for creating a space where theater and psychiatry intersect, allowing us to consider not only the science, but also the deep personal experience of mental health treatment.

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the New Canaan Parent Support Group and our co-Host New Canaan Community Foundation, I’d like to thank all those who made our August 27th Community Addiction Awareness Vigil a success. We had 600 people in attendance on a beautiful evening at the corner of South Avenue and Elm Street. Our goal was to show, through heartfelt testimonials, that recovery from addiction is possible, and we succeeded with our amazing line-up of Alex, Gina, and Pete, all who grew up in New Canaan.

Our tagline this year was Shared Stories Saves Lives, because each time a recovery story is shared openly, there are life-changing impacts.

After 45 wonderful years, Toddlertime is closing its doors, and we want to express our deepest gratitude to all the families who have walked through our doors and filled our lives with joy. As owners and directors, it has been an absolute privilege to educate, care for, and support your children and families. Watching so many little ones grow, thrive, and continue their educational journeys—many now graduating high school or attending college—has brought us immense joy and pride.

To the Editor,

I’m writing to invite and encourage our community to attend the 9th Annual Community Addiction Awareness Vigil held by the New Canaan Parent Support Group on Wednesday evening, August 27th. If you’ve been to the Vigil before, you know it is a truly memorable event, gathering a wide cross-section of our community to increase awareness of addiction and come together in hope. Each year, I am inspired by the large crowd that joins together to address this critical local issue.
