The town still hasn’t published minutes from July 20 Board of Selectmen meeting. Under state law, minutes must be made available no more than seven days after a regular or special meeting. [UPDATE: Moynihan said in an email at 12:33 p.m. Thursday that town officials misplaced the minutes in the Town Clerk’s office and that “[t]hey were not posted on the Town’s website until later because IT personnel were on vacation.” Town Clerk Claudia Weber said in a 2:34 p.m. email that the minutes were not misfiled, as Moynihan claimed.]

The selectmen on Tuesday voted 3-0 to approve the settlement of a lawsuit brought against the town three years ago by a Putnam Road man who has claimed that municipal officials harmed his property by directing water onto it from a public road as well as neighboring properties. The town spent about $5,000 in legal fees on the matter in the fiscal year that ended June 30, records show. The selectmen entered into executive session to discuss the settlement prior to reopening the meeting to the public for a vote. A newspaper reporter did not immediately rejoin the public meeting. When Moynihan said he wasn’t sure if the Board needed to wait for that reporter, his staffer Tucker Murphy said, “We are recording. She can watch the recording.”

New Canaan Police last week announced the launch of a new campaign. Through “Feed the Blue,” community members can send donated meals to the police station, which doesn’t have a kitchen facility as other emergency response agencies in town do. The meals are designed to help the men and women of NCPD enjoy a break during their shifts and typically will be distributed on Mondays and Wednesdays. This month, volunteers are making deliveries.
