Police at 9 a.m. Monday received a report of an unlocked vehicle on Logan Road illegally entered, and a suspect wearing a hoodie trying to steal items from inside it. Nothing has been reported stolen, police said.

Town officials say residents should expect to see non-toxic green or red tracer dye in 23 sewer locations throughout town from Feb. 21 to March 1, during a test to find out if the dyed water is infiltrating from the stormwater system. “The tracer dye poses no threat to human health or the environment,” the town said in a press release.

A submission from the New Canaan Girls High School Squash Team: The team won first place at the National Interscholastics Team Squash Championship in Philadelphia the weekend of Feb. 9 to 11. The girls team, captained by juniors Lily Bradley and Roma Wadhwani won all three Division III matches with wins from the captains, as well as Sophie Evseev, Lilly Messina, Charlotte Sawyer, Aryana Shah, Chattie Truslow, and Kelly Vance. The final match was a nail-biter, but the girls remained focused and fought for the win in each match. The NCHS girls team is organized by New Canaan Squash, which provides opportunity for professional instruction for boys and girls grades K through 12, as well as interscholastic competition in grades 7 through 12. Police at 10:21 on Feb. 9 received a report of a burglary at a Pequot Lane home. A screen had been cut and a side door of the house was found open. The investigation is active. Police have no suspects at this time.

Congratulations also are due to the New Canaan Squash Boys Team, which emerged victorious at the National Interscholastic Team Squash Championship in Philadelphia last weekend, securing first place in Division II. The team, captained by seniors Jack Sheffield and Jackson Bench, showcased their skills by winning all four matches against impressive opponents from Georgia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Texas. The finals saw New Canaan facing off against a tough team from Houston in a closely contested competition. The championship was clinched in a close match by Lucas Alvarez, and by the remarkable wins from Jordan Alexander, Augusto Baldini, and Jack Sheffield and with outstanding contributions by Michael Telesco, Arya Mitra and Teddy Bach. Representing New Canaan High School, the boys exemplified skill, teamwork, and determination throughout the tournament. Their success not only reflects individual talent but also underscores the strength and passion for the game of these athletes. The New Canaan Squash program, which organizes the high school team, is a K-12 competitive initiative catering to students in the New Canaan public school system and it is led by Director Zac Alexander with coaches Devan Currie and Tyrese Evans.
