NCHS varsity boys squash team

More than 200 squash teams from 17 states competed in the 2024 High School National Championships, including New Canaan’s Varsity High School Boys team, which finished with a strong 7-2 regular season. Yet one day prior to departing for Philadelphia, number-one New Canaan varsity player Sahil Teredesai sustained a disabling ligament injury, meaning each player was moved up in rank to Face tougher competition. The team fought gallantly, in many cases to close five-set games, supported throughout by Teredesai, who traveled to Philly to support the team. While the team’s number-four and -seven players—Atma Krishnan and Theo Strobach—were sidelined by injuries, number-two player Luke Zinczenko won his match, while number-three Ashton Baker, four Jake Donahue and six William Hanover each came close to winning. “In all, the players showed incredible fortitude, dedication, unity, and compassion in victory and in losses, as a team,” organizers say. “The four returning juniors look forward to next season having gained valuable team experiences at Nationals, and aiming to put New Canaan back on the board next year.” For further information on how to join New Canaan public school K-12 squash programs, please visit www.ncsquash.com
