New Canaan Police at 1:31 p.m. Tuesday received a report of a vehicle stolen from a Mariomi Road home while its owner was unloading groceries. The investigation is active, police said. Here’s a social post from NCPD regarding vehicle thefts:

It’s almost here: New Canaan Chamber Music’s next concert, titled “Americans in Paris,” will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7 at First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan. It will feature pianist Andrew Armstrong (also New Canaan Chamber Music’s artistic director), Mak Grgić (guitar) and Orion Weiss (piano). Tickets here.

The Planning & Zoning Commission during its regular meeting Tuesday unanimously re-elected Dan Radman as chair and Krista Neilson as secretary. Those voting included Radman, Neilson and commissioners John Kriz, John Engel, Chris Hering, Paul Knag, Allen Swerdlowe, Tom Benton, Eric Knowles, Meghan Mensching and Bill Pratt. Commissioner Kristina Larson was absent.

Heads-up: Free tax preparation via the AARP Tax-Aide will start next week on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at Lapham Community Center in Waveny. There are no age, income or residency restrictions. Bring Social Security card or ITIN proof for each household member, government-issued photo ID and last year’s federal and state returns. Bring tax documents, details of extra income/expenses and bank account number or a check for direct deposit/payment.

The “news feed” on Live New Canaan—a marketing website toward which elected and appointed town officials allocated $60,000 in ARPA funds—has published four posts since Oct. 1.

The Board of Selectmen on Tuesday voted 3-0 in favor of hiring Jackson Sainville for the position of Mechanic II in the Department of Public Works. According to town Human Resources Director Cheryl Pickering Jones, the town received 20 applications and interviewed four applicants. Sainville has a commercial driver’s license and has worked for the city of Bridgeport since 2018.

An opening reception for the 45th Annual Juried Photography Show will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Carriage Barn Arts Center. It runs through March 5. More info here.

The 150 stakes with bright orange caps that have appeared alongside South Avenue mark the spots where trees will be planted between Bank Street and the New Canaan YMCA, according to the New Canaan Beautification League. They’ll include oaks, maples, sycamore, elm, dogwood, hawthorn, tupelo and linden.  Subject to state approval, planting could start this spring.
