Police at 11:17 p.m. on March 6 received a report of a residential burglary on Weed Street. Access had been gained by breaking a window. The investigation is active.

Silver Hill Hospital will host a second neighborhood meeting to discuss campus security, 6:30 to 8 p.m. on March 26 at the Congregational Church of New Canaan, 23 Park St. According to a CT Insider article, the man who prompted East School to shelter-in-place two weeks ago is a 25-year-old who escaped from hospital custody and later was caught at JFK with a “hatchet, sledgehammer” and plans to shoot two people.

Police are investigating the theft of a laptop from a backpack at New Canaan High School, reported at 11:00 a.m. on March 4.

New Canaan Rotarly Club member Jeanne Gnuse at a meeting thjis month shared her experience writing her memoir “The Red Mustang” about her life with her late husband, HTG Advisors’ founder Tom Gnuse. Her book is a collection of stories of their life together and includes key moments of his career, their children and his work with the Tourette’s Foundation. Gnuse’s remarks about her motivation for writing the book, most poignantly so her children and grandchildren will always tangibly “know” Jeanne and Tom, were “touching,” the organization said. “Her talk was filled with the wisdom of the loving wife, mother and grandmother she is.”

A state Superior Court judge received an extension to April 7 to make a widely anticipated decision regarding the appeal of an application for an 8-30g affordable housing project at Weed and Elm Streets.

Kerri Walsh Jennings leads volleyball clinics at Grace Farms—March 8, 2025.

On March 8, in recognition of International Women’s Day, Grace Farms welcomed Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings, Women’s Sports Foundation CEO Danette Leighton, and Monarch Collective Co-Founder Jasmine Robinson for a conversation titled “Beyond the Game | The Stories, Impact, and Future of Women in Sports.” Walsh Jennings, a legend of competitive beach volleyball, also led volleyball clinics for 50 local middle and high school girls as a part of the day’s events, along with coaches from Northeast Volleyball Club.
