Police on Sunday night arrested a 38-year-old New Canaan man and charged him with disorderly conduct.
At about 6:35 p.m. on Oct. 27, officers responded to a local residence on a reported dispute between the victim and arrested man, police said.
Through an investigation, authorities established probable cause for the misdemeanor charge, according to a police report.
Under state law, people are guilty of disorderly conduct if they “with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, or recklessly creating a risk … [e]ngages in … threatening behavior; or … annoys or interferes with another person,” among other reasons.
Police withheld details regarding the incident Sunday night, saying it’s a domestic matter.
Calls to New Canaan Police for family disputes were down year-over-year through September, from 55 to 36, according to data provided at the Oct. 16 Police Commission meeting.
Police released the man after he promised to appear Oct. 28 in state Superior Court.
