Police last week arrested a 38-year-old Stamford man and charged him with driving under the influence.

At about 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 27, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle traveling westbound on East Avenue with a brake light out, according to a police report.

During a subsequent stop, the officer detected signs of impairment, the report said.

The man was taken into custody and charged following field sobriety tests, it said.

He refused to undergo a test to establish his blood-alcohol level, police said.

Police additionally cited him for a motor vehicle infraction, because the man wasn’t driving with an Ignition Interlock Device that was required as per the terms of his last drunk driving arrest. (The man had pleaded guilty in 2011 to a DUI charge brought by Norwalk Police, and to an interfering charge brought by Stamford Police three years later, Connecticut Judicial Branch records show.)

New Canaan Police released the man on $250 bond and scheduled him to appear March 12 in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
