Police last week arrested a 61-year-old Stamford man and charged him with driving under the influence.
At about 6:56 p.m. on Aug. 10 (a Saturday), officers responded to the area of Main Street and Lakeview Avenue on a report of an erratic driver, police said.
During a subsequent stop, officers identified the driver and smelled alcohol on his breath, among other signs of impairment, according to a police report.
After conducting field sobriety tests, police brought the misdemeanor charge. At police headquarters, the man provided two breath samples, which came in at .2335 and .1906—nearly three times and 2.5 times the legal limit, respectively.
The man was released on $300 bond and scheduled to appear Aug. 19 in state Superior Court.
