DUI Charge for Man, 45, Found Driving the Wrong Way on Elm Street

Police on Friday night arrested a 45-year-old man found drunk-driving the wrong way on Elm Street with no headlights on.

At about 11:51 p.m. on Sept. 25, pedestrians downtown alerted an officer on patrol about the motorist, according to a police report.

During a subsequent stop, the officer detected signs of impairment, the report said. After administering field sobriety tests, the Ridgefield man was charged with driving under the influence, it said.

The man refused to undergo a test to establish his blood-alcohol level, police said. He additionally was cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

The man was released on $250 bond and scheduled to appear Oct. 27 in state Superior Court.
