Police this month arrested two residents of an East Cross Road home following a domestic dispute.
At about 11:48 p.m. on Aug. 8, officers were dispatched to the home and conducted an investigation that included statements from a victim, according to a police report.
Based on those, a 42-year-old man and 40-year-old woman each were charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct, police said.
It isn’t clear whether or how the arrested people are related to the victim, what the dispute involved, in what way it turned physical or what was the extent of the victim’s injuries. Police declined to provide details, saying the incident was a domestic matter.
Under state law, a person is guilty of disorderly conduct when, with intent to cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm, engages in fighting or in violent, tumultuous or threatening behavior; or by offensive or disorderly conduct, annoys or interferes with another person, among other reasons.
A person is guilty of third-degree assault, according to state law, when “with intent to cause physical injury to another person, he causes such injury to such person or to a third person” or “recklessly causes serious physical injury to another person or “with criminal negligence, he causes physical injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon, a dangerous instrument or an electronic defense weapon.”
Both arrested people were released after promising to appear the following day in state Superior Court in Norwalk.
