Felony Burglary, Larceny Charges for Man, 49

Police last week arrested a 49-year-old Somers, N.Y. man by warrant and charged him with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny, both felonies.

The warrant stemmed from an incident reported to New Canaan Police in June, officials said. Police did not release details of the theft. Under state law, a person is guilty of third-degree burglary if he or she “enters or remains unlawfully in a building with intent to commit a crime therein.” A person is guilty of third-degree larceny when the “value of the property or service exceeds two thousand dollars,” under state law.

Officers took custody of the man at Westchester County Correctional facility, they said.

He remained in custody on $100,000 bond and was transported to state Superior Court to appear Aug. 1.

The man has not yet pleaded to the charges or retained counsel, according to Connecticut Judicial Branch records.
