Police last week arrested a 21-year-old Bridgeport man by warrant and charged him wth third-degree larceny, a felony-level offense.
He turned himself in at about 10:05 a.m. on April 19 on an active warrant that stemmed from a check fraud investigation that police launched in January, officials said.
Under state law, a person is guilty of third-degree larceny if he or she steals a property or service worth more than $2,000 and the property “consists of a public record, writing or instrument kept, held or deposited according to law with or in the keeping of any public office or public servant,” among other items.
He was released on $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear May 2 in state Superior Court.
