Fraud Attempt at Main Street Bank Thwarted, Police Investigating

More

Police are searching for a woman who two weeks ago tried to withdraw $1,980 from a Main Street bank using someone else’s debit card and stolen driver’s license.

It happened at about 10 minutes prior to the bank’s 5 p.m. closing on Oct. 31, when a woman approached a female teller and handed over a withdrawal slip with incomplete information and a signature that didn’t match the one on a license she handed over, too, according to a police report.

When the teller asked her for more information, the woman left in a black four-door sedan, police said.

The teller then contacted the actual owner of the card—a 49-year-old woman who had reported the license stolen in Avon. The items reportedly were stolen from a motor vehicle, police said.

They’re investigating.
