An Italian-style café is set to open soon in the heart of downtown New Canaan.
‘Dolce,’ as it will be called, will be located at 98 Elm St. and will offer specialty coffees—espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha, Americano—in different flavors, as well as sandwiches, salads, Italian gelato, pastries, desserts, croissants, cookies and scones, owner Andrea Lombardi said.
“I’m very excited,” he told NewCanaanite.com. “I can’t wait.”
An early-May opening date is planned, according to the Italian-born Lombardi, a native of Ischia, an island in the Gulf of Naples.
Formerly occupied by New Canaan Olive Oil, the commercial space has been vacant for more than one year.
An interior fit-out appears to be underway. Lombardi said that in addition to the coffee bar and display cases, Dolce will offer patrons hi-top chairs and tables and a couch.
Lombardi himself has managed restaurants in Stamford during the past 10 years, working at establishments such as Bar Rosso and Capriccio.
Wonderful news! New Canaan needs more coffee shops. A nice bakery would be a great addition as well.
