Joseph Michael Pascarella, age 71, of New Canaan, CT, died peacefully on March 21, 2023, with his loving family by his side. Joseph was born on July 10, 1951, in Stamford, CT, to the late Michael Joseph and Irene (Balogh) Pascarella. He was the loving husband of Noel (Bellantoni) Pascarella of New Canaan for nearly 46 years.
Joe was a member of the New Canaan Fire Company for over fifty years and served two terms as president. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council in New Canaan and served as Grand Knight. Joe was a well-respected ASA umpire with the New Canaan Men’s Recreational Softball League and umpired many softball games to benefit the Special Olympics. In recent years, you could find Joe working in New Canaan at the paddle hut, pool and tennis courts.
Nothing meant more to him than family, and to know Joe meant you were immediately treated as one of his own. We will always remember Joe for his kind and gentle nature, great humor, and the endless love he gave to all. He will forever be in our hearts.
In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by his son Joseph M. Pascarella Jr., daughter-in-law Ashleigh (Warner) Pascarella, and grandson Owen R. Pascarella, of Trumbull, CT; his son Paul J. Pascarella and daughter-in-law Haley (Brooks) Pascarella, of Stamford, CT; his nephew, Michael J. Frost, of Bonita Springs, FL; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved so deeply.
Joe is predeceased by his parents; his sister, Betty (Pascarella) Frost; and his nephew, Ryan C. Frost.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday March 27, 2023, at St. Aloysius Church, 21 Cherry Street, New Canaan, CT at 10:00 am. The family will receive friends and family from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday March 26, 2023 at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street New Canaan, CT. The burial will follow the church service at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Joe’s behalf to the New Canaan Fire Company or St. Aloysius Parish in New Canaan.
