A new 9,261–square-foot (including basement) home is planned for a vacant 2.05-acre lot on Welles Lane that once belonged to New Canaan Country School, according to a building permit application filed Jan. 5.
The 1963 home that had stood at 69 Welles Lane home came down in 1996, according to the assessor’s field card for the property.
Designed by Stamford-based William Kleinmann Architect and to be built for an estimated $1 million by New Canaan’s Karp Builders LLC, it will include living room, dining room, family room, kitchen, library, powder room, mudroom, master bedroom with bath, five additional bedrooms, a playroom, sitting area, rec room, exercise room and more bathrooms.
Since 2006, the property has been owned by Oak Glen LLC—a company whose managing principal is a local man, according to records on file with the Connecticut Secretary of the State. It had belonged from 1976 to 2004 to the nearby Country School, tax records show.
The Town Clerk’s office recorded two property transactions last week:
- $792,000 (recorded Jan. 5)
- Linda Baker to Larkspur Investments, LLC
- $1,395,000 (recorded Jan. 8)
- Steven & Joanna Sarracino to Seth & Stefanie Milligan
