My family has known the Townsends since 2001 and I got to know Rich well in the past six years as co-manager of the endowments of the United Methodist Church of NC and co-leader of our churches volunteer efforts at Habitat for Humanity. At Habitat, we build houses for low income families in Bridgeport one Saturday a month.
What’s a better way to get to know someone by working on a scaffold together?
I have learned that Rich is intelligent, financially astute, generous, enthusiastic, a go-getter and a family man. He is compassionate and wants to make our community a better place to live. Rich is also supportive of the New Canaan Community Foundation, Americares Emergency Response and Waveny LifeCare Network.
Rich has a strong business background and financial expertise after a long career at IBM and being a Chief Financial Officer at Loral Space and Communications. These qualities will serve him well on the Town Council paying attention to line items.
Rich is good at setting priorities. He will be a good steward of our tax dollars and will prioritize between important needs and lesser needs or wants – to maintain the greatness of our town and improve property values.
He will listen to what is important to you, so please join me in voting for Rich for Town Council at the caucus on July 18.
